Spot Coffee: Green Coffee Ready to Ship Now

Your roasting schedule does not wait for a harvest calendar. That is what spot coffee is for.

Our spot coffee is already in warehouse, already graded, and ready to move as soon as you are. No waiting on a future crop, no guessing at arrival dates. Just quality green coffee you can have in your roastery on your timeline.

What is spot coffee?

In the green coffee trade, "spot coffee" refers to lots that are already produced, milled, and sitting in a warehouse, ready for immediate sale and shipment. It is the opposite of buying on a future contract. When you buy spot, you are buying something that already exists and can be inspected, sampled, and shipped right away.

For roasters, that means shorter lead times, known quality with no standby, and the flexibility to fill a gap in your offering without a long wait. You need it, you get it.

Why source spot coffee through Orange Brown

  • Every lot is tasted before it is offered.

We do not list a lot on our spot inventory until we have cupped it ourselves and are confident it meets our standard. What we offer is what we would put in our own lineup.

  • You get a person, not a spreadsheet.

We do not publish a public price list. Instead, when you reach out, you are connected with someone on our team who knows the inventory, knows the regions, and can help you find the right lot for your roast, your price point, and your customers, not just the first available bag.

  • Full traceability, every time.

Our spot lots come with the same regional and farm level detail you expect from us in every conversation, whether that is a specific Brazilian region like Cerrado Mineiro or a lot from another origin entirely. You will always know where your coffee comes from and why it tastes the way it does.

  • Samples before you commit.

Cupping notes only tell you so much. Before you place an order, we will get a sample in your hands so you can evaluate it on your own equipment, with your own palate.

What happens after you reach out

  • 1. We ask a few questions.

What are you roasting for, what price range are you working within, and what profiles have worked well for you before.

  • 2. We send a shortlist, not a spreadsheet..

You will get a handful of relevant lots with cupping notes and full origin detail, not a wall of every bag in the warehouse.

  • 3. We arrange samples.

Nothing ships in volume until you have tasted it.

  • 4. We confirm availability and shipping.

Once you are ready to order, we will walk you through quantity, pricing, and timing so there are no surprises.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between spot coffee and forward booking?

Spot coffee already exists in warehouse and can ship immediately. Forward booking reserves coffee that is still at the farm, in production, or awaiting shipment from origin. If you need coffee now, spot is the answer. If you are planning months ahead, forward booking may be a better fit.

Why doesn't Orange Brown publish its spot list or pricing online?

We would rather match you with the right lot than have you sort through all of them. A short conversation lets us point you toward coffee that actually fits your roast profile, volume, and budget, instead of a generic public list.

How quickly can I get a sample?

Once you reach out and we identify a lot that fits, we move quickly to get a sample in your hands. Exact timing depends on your location and the lot in question, and our team will confirm a timeline when you contact us.

Do I need to commit to a minimum order to see the spot list?

No. Reaching out for our current spot offerings does not obligate you to anything. It is simply the fastest way to see what is available and relevant to you.

Is spot coffee more expensive than forward booked coffee?

Pricing depends on the specific lot, origin, and market conditions at the time, not simply on whether it is spot or forward. Our team can walk you through current pricing for any lot you are interested in.
