We bring Brazil's best coffee directly to your roastery.
Orange Brown Imports is a Brazilian-Canadian green coffee importer and broker with over twelve years of experience connecting specialty coffee roasters with exceptional Brazilian green coffee.
We are based in Toronto, Canada, and supply roasters across Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
What sets us apart isn't a price list or a product catalogue. It's relationships with the farmers who grow the coffee, with the land it comes from, and with the roasters who depend on it. We built this business on the belief that the best green coffee partnerships are earned through trust, presence, and deep knowledge of origin. Not just contracts.
Part of our team lives in Brazil. Everyone visits the farms.
Most green coffee importers source from a distance. We don't. Because part of our team doesn't have a distance to close. They live in Brazil, in the heart of the regions we source from.
Our team is split between Brazil and Canada by design. The members based in Brazil are close to the farms year-round. Visiting cooperatives, monitoring harvests as they happen, and maintaining the day-to-day relationships with the farmers we work with. The members based in Canada bridge the supply chain on the other side, ensuring what leaves origin arrives exactly as intended and fits what our roasters actually need.
And when the full team comes together at origin — which happens consistently throughout the year — we do four things that no importer operating purely from a desk ever can:
-
Strengthening relationships with farmers and cooperatives.
The farms we work with are not vendors on a spreadsheet. They are people we have visited season after season, whose operations we understand, whose challenges we know, and whose commitment to quality we can speak to directly. Long-term relationships are what allow us to guarantee consistent supply and consistent quality, year after year.
-
Checking the harvest in person.
Spec sheets tell you what a farm produced last year. Being there tells you what this year's harvest actually looks like — how the cherry is developing, how the processing is going, whether a particular micro-lot is worth pursuing. There is no substitute for being present during the harvest season.
-
Gathering boots-on-the-ground insights.
Soil conditions, rainfall patterns, how a farm is managing a difficult season, which new processing experiments are yielding results — this kind of knowledge comes from conversations at the farm, not from a broker's email chain. We bring this intelligence back to our roasters so they can make better sourcing decisions.
-
Exploring new partnerships across Brazil's top regions.
Brazil's specialty coffee landscape is more diverse than most buyers realise. We actively scout new farms and cooperatives across all of Brazil's major specialty-producing regions — from Cerrado Mineiro and Alta Mogiana to Sul de Minas, Mantiqueira, and Norte Pioneiro — so that our roasters always have access to the best of what each harvest produces.
Brazilian-Canadians who understand both sides of the supply chain.
There is a gap in most green coffee supply chains between what happens at origin and what a roaster in Toronto, New York, or Amsterdam actually needs from their importer. We were built to close that gap.
As Brazilian-Canadians, we bring something genuinely rare to green coffee importing: a deep, lived understanding of Brazil — its coffee-growing regions, its farming culture, its seasonal rhythms — combined with an equally clear understanding of what North American and international roasters need from a supply partner.
That means we do not just find you great coffee. We find you great coffee that fits your business — the right volume, the right processing profile, the right consistency, at a price point that makes sense for your operation. And we make sure it stays available.
We have operated for over twelve years, building the kind of origin relationships that take time to earn and are difficult to replicate. The farmers and cooperatives we work with know us by name. That is not a marketing line. It is the reason we can offer what we offer.
Quality verified at origin. By a certified agronomist.
Our team includes a certified agronomist with international certification experience who personally visits the farms and regions we source from. Every farm in our network is assessed to confirm that farming practices, processing standards, and social conditions meet the high standards we promise our roasters.
This is not a box-ticking exercise. It is how we ensure that the traceability we offer is genuine — that when we tell you where your coffee came from and how it was produced, we can back that up with direct, verified knowledge from the field.
For roasters who need to communicate origin and practice to their own customers, this level of verification matters. Your customers are increasingly asking where their coffee comes from. We make sure you can answer that question with confidence.
How we work with roasters.
Whether you are an established roastery looking for a more reliable Brazilian green coffee supply partner, or you are sourcing from Brazil for the first time, we offer two ways to work together:
-
Custom sourcing.
Tell us what you are looking for — the region, the processing method, the flavour profile, the volume, the price range — and we will find the coffee that fits. We draw on our network of farms and cooperatives across Brazil's top specialty regions to source to your specification, not from a fixed catalogue.
-
Broker services.
If direct trading with a Brazilian farm is what makes the most sense for your business — whether for volume, pricing, or relationship reasons — we facilitate it end to end. We handle the connection, the logistics, and the compliance. No order is too large.
Brazil's top specialty coffee-producing regions.
We source from farms and cooperatives across all of Brazil's major specialty-producing regions. Each region has a distinct terroir, altitude range, and flavour character — and we know them from the ground up.
Alta Mogiana
Denomination of Origin certified. High-altitude farms straddling the São Paulo and Minas Gerais border, producing coffees with exceptional natural sweetness
Cerrado Mineiro
Brazil's first Denomination of Origin. Defined dry winters, rich mineral soils, and altitudes to 1,350 metres produce coffees of rare consistency
Sul de Minas
Brazil's largest producing region. Pronounced sweetness, milk chocolate, and a forgiving roast range make Sul de Minas the reliable backbone of specialty blends worldwide.
Mantiqueira de Minas
One of Brazil's most decorated specialty regions. High elevations and cool microclimates produce layered, complex coffees with refined fruit character and a sweetness that sets them apart.
Norte Pioneiro, Paraná
One of the few coffee-growing regions on earth located outside the tropics. Four distinct seasons slow cherry development and build uncommon complexity.
